Statement:
My project Greeting from Strangers is comprised of twelve photographs recording each month in one year. It explores the interesting modern relationship of photography as a medium, and combines photography with materials, collage, design, painting and documentary.
Human beings are so interesting; they are full of contradiction, pretence, vanity, hypocrisy and psychosis. They often use different faces to deal with family, friends, colleagues, parents, even enemies.
I hope people can become more introspective because of my art works.

Biography:
Can Shui is a Chinese visual artist and educator. Most of his art works are exploring the meaning of human beings’ ultimate desires. His early art works were more about pain, violence, pathos, malformation, even death. Now his work is more subtle and is a satire on the sufferings of life. He has had three solo photography exhibitions and received his MA Photography, London College of Communication, in 2021.
Can Shui’s project ‘Greeting from Strangers’ was awarded a Photomonitor commendation at the LCC degree show online exhibition in 2021.
